Spot Check – Interior
Spot checking periodically for dirt, grime, and grease is a great way to keep your paint looking like the day you got it, especially if you have kids! By taking the time to examine high traffic areas, this will save you energy, money, and hassle in the long run. High traffic areas typically include hallways, kitchens, staircase walls, and children’s bedrooms. It’s crucial to pay attention to areas where children and/or pets like to play, communal areas, and particularly where furniture touches the walls.

Once you’ve identified the areas that may be dirty, try washing them with a damp sponge and warm water. If that doesn’t do the trick, try adding a little dishwasher detergent. It’s important to note that you should only use a damp sponge and not a wet sponge. If you notice that scuffs have removed small areas of paint, try using the leftover paint to touch up any areas you see fit.

Pressure Washing – Exterior
The exterior of your home or business makes the first impression, so it’s imperative that you maintain the aesthetic appeal and look of your home after it’s gotten a fresh coat of paint. One of the best ways to keep your exterior paint looking great for years to come is pressure washing! This will remove any buildup of dirt and grime that overtime can make your home or business look aged and dull overtime. At Mike’s Quality Painting, we recommend this be done about every five to six years after the initial paint job.
